Is nutrition more important than sport?
It’s difficult to work off bad eating habits from the hips. The right diet is much more important than an ambitious sports program!
Good news for fitness buffs and jogging haters, because scientific studies prove: If you want to lose weight, you don’t necessarily have to do sports. Of course, defined, muscular thighs look better on the beach, but when it comes to weight loss, running, strength training etc. actually play a lesser role than most people think.
More precisely, sport contributes only 30 percent to a slimmer silhouette. If we eat badly, it won’t help to sweat for hours on end on the stepper. If you really want to lose weight, you have to adapt your diet, do without convenience food, sweets, etc. in the long run and learn to eat in moderation.
Counting calories is not the solution, but rather a natural and balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and hardly any sugar and little processed food. Our metabolism will only run at full speed if we supply our bodies sufficiently with valuable nutrients. But it also depends on the right quantities: We should not over-eat, but stop as soon as we feel 80 percent satisfied.
Nevertheless, we should not completely do without sport: The ideal supplement for a balanced diet is a healthy amount of exercise. Not only because a trained body is firmer and the condition is better: Exercise also helps to prevent diabetes, heart disease and dementia.
